YING YEFU: SO YOU LOOK LIKE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES

Shanghai China (map)

Opening Reception: SATURDAY MARCH 15th, 6- 9pm

ART LABOR Gallery is very pleased to present the newest solo exhibition of one of China's most exciting emerging ink painters, Ying Yefu, also known as Shen Zhe Ming Yi. These gongbi ink paintings point the artist in a new direction progressing along from the earlier works that launched him on his rapid career path. They have a brazen bolder tone, an undeniable assertiveness that displays the strengths of a culture, a country and a region, that has risen to prominence.

The theme is the new Asian hero, and this hero is the everyman. Rather than parroting the worship of celebrity and power, Ying Yefu points out this renewed exuberance owes much to the sacrifice and humility of a generation which devoted everything, and reaped not much but standing room at the back of this immense theatre, while the drama and the future unfolds on center stage.

Few would deny that these are some of the very best ink paintings coming out of the Chinese contemporary art scene today, executed with a skill that is without peer, and ideas that are uniquely his own. Come join us as we share with you an artist with adoring fans worldwide. Dozens of collectors from Mainland China, France, Russia, Australia, the U.K, Canada, Japan and more already know that this is one truly unique artist, this "art worker", as he prefers it, in an ever growing mass of Chinese talent, but whom stands out and above the multitudes.

ART LABOR
